"The Birch Grove - Autumn" - Tom Thomson
Tom Thomson (1877–1917) was a seminal Canadian artist known for his vibrant, expressive paintings of the Ontario landscape, particularly Algonquin Park.
He was a critical inspiration for the formation of the Group of Seven - also known as the Algonquin School. Though he died before the official formation of the Group of Seven, his work profoundly influenced them.
He was instrumental in establishing a distinct Canadian style.
Thomson is considered Canada's "archetypal" painter, bringing a modern, almost abstract, and emotional sensibility to the Canadian landscape
